FiberLocator® Closes Out 2011 Strong & Looks Ahead to an Exciting New Year

Online Subscriber Base Doubles & New Carriers Added Push Maps Total to Over 200

NEWTON, Mass. (Feb. 15, 2012) – FiberLocator Online, the centralized, searchable fiber network research database, has reported exponential growth in 2011, surpassing key milestones over the past year. The FiberLocator Online user base has more than doubled, including notable subscribers such as CBRE, Jones Lang Lasalle, Digital Realty Trust, AT&T, Verizon Wireless, XO and more.

The FiberLocator telecom data set grew substantially as well, with the number of carriers whose network maps and data are represented in the database surpassing 200 providers. In addition to the milestones over the past year, FiberLocator Online has also introduced many feature upgrades to optimize usability and offer more detailed information on carrier networks.

FiberLocator co-creator Steve McCarthy is thrilled with the success and growth of the FiberLocator product suite, saying, “It’s exciting to achieve this growth and to deliver a solution that makes people more effective and efficient at network planning and telecom research. Over the past year, we have truly seized the opportunity to provide a comprehensive fiber network mapping product used by many of the top carriers, REITs, commercial real estate firms and enterprise customers.”

Recent changes, according to McCarthy, have greatly impacted the quality and breadth of data as well as the user experience. Some 50 additional carriers have been added, bringing the grand total to just over 200 carriers in FiberLocator. The carriers added represent a wide variety of network types, ranging from the biggest name fiber providers to the smallest municipal networks.

In addition to the data set additions, FiberLocator boasts several other enhancements. New features and displays have made the SaaS application even more intuitive, and infrastructure upgrades have improved the loading speeds of map views. Other upgrades include the application’s compatibility with the smart phones and tablets, including the iPad and iPhone.

“Network planners and carrier sales pros can use the FiberLocator app  on-the-go on an iPad in prospect meetings and sales calls to show how their network can serve customer requirements,” McCarthy commented “We’re getting very positive feedback on the usefulness of FiberLocator in the field.”

With such immense growth comes the continued expectation for similar progress. “In the next year,  we will be adding more data sets, and the data available will largely be driven by requests and suggestions from our vibrant user population, their needs and contributions. We will see our user population double again, and most importantly, we’d like to continue our strong pace of adding value to the platform with carrier data and features,” said McCarthy.
